国選定の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区「五條新町」。江戸から明治の町家が途切れず続く通りに、宿は静かに立っています。開けた窓から聞こえるのは、かつてこの町を通った旅人が聞いたのと同じ、木戸の音と虫の声。
Shinmachi is a nationally-designated preservation district. Machiya houses from the Edo and Meiji periods run unbroken along the main street. Open a window and you hear what travelers heard centuries ago — wooden doors, cicadas, the quiet of a town that kept its shape.
高野山・吉野・奈良南部への拠点
A base for Koyasan, Yoshino, and southern Nara
車で高野山まで30分、吉野山まで40分。大阪・京都から日帰りでは慌ただしい行先も、ここに宿を取れば朝と夕の一番良い時間に山へ入れます。五條駅は徒歩圏、京奈和道「五條IC」は車5分。
Thirty minutes by car to Koyasan, forty to Yoshino. Day-tripping from Osaka or Kyoto cuts the best hours out of the mountains — from here you arrive for dawn and leave at dusk. Gojo Station is a short walk. The Keinawa expressway IC is 5 minutes.
豊かな食と地酒の町
Local food, local sake
吉野川の鮎、柿の葉寿司、大和肉鶏。近隣の酒蔵では地酒「天の川」「山本本家」。派手な観光地ではない土地の、普段着の食と酒がしっかり揃っています。
Ayu from the Yoshino river. Kakinoha-zushi. Yamato jidori chicken. Nearby breweries bottle Amanogawa and the Yamamoto Honke sake. Not a tourist-food town — the everyday cooking of southern Nara, well looked-after.
